Gerry Collins made a great contribution to Dubbo Rugby as player and administrator, but more importantly as a Publicity Officer spreading the gospel through the "Daily Liberal" and 2 DU. Gerry left Dubbo to become a leading commentator with the ABC. He has covered many Olympic and Commonwealth games for the ABC. He is currently working for the ABC in Brisbane.
Keiran Gleeson played with the club in the 70's and 80's. He was captain of the 1975 1st grade premiership side. Keiran was a talented back rower who displayed outstanding leadership skills and always led from the front. Keiran moved from Dubbo around 4 years ago and is now living in Canberra.
Simon Duffy played his first game for Dubbo in 1978, and his last game in 1996. Simon has been president of the club, captained the 1st grade premiership side in '87, coached the 1st grade premiership side in '95, and in '99 was the club's pre-season trainer. Simon was heavily involved in the establishment of Dubbo Rugby Club Inc. as it is known as today. Simon represented NSW Country as a front row forward.
Warren Carson is a Life member of the club. His first season with the club was in 1970. Carso played in the '75 premiership side and coached 1st grade for 5 years, and 2nd grade for 3 years. A committed player and clubman. Warren played hooker with the club. He has also coached Dubbo Junior rugby teams. Warren coached the Colts to a premiership in 1986, and in 1992 took the Under 15's to the juniors' second title.
Peter Aird has been associated with Dubbo Rugby Club since 1979. A front rower who was a regular inclusion in Central West teams, Airdy also represented Western Province. His last game for the club was in 1987. Has also been both a junior and senior coach of Dubbo Rugby. He is currently coaching the Dubbo Colts. Peter has been tireless worker for the club in his 20 year association with the Kangaroos.
Russell Irwin played fullback in Parramatta's 1st grade premiership team of 1977. In 1984 Russell began his association with Dubbo Rugby Club. He has coached colts and first grade. Russell was the coach of the 1987 1st grade premiership side. He currently assisting with the club as an assistant coach of the 2nd grade. He was also Clubman of the year in 1987.
Gareth Peacocke is a Life Member of the Dubbo Rugby Club. His involvement with the club started in the mid 1950's. Gareth and his family have been committed supporters of the club for over 50 years. Gareth played his last game with the club in late 1960's. "Skull" was a talented front rower/ hooker. He has not missed a home game of the club for many years.
Mark Melville's involvement with Dubbo Rugby Club began in 1970. As a player, referee and administrator, Mark has been heavily involved in Dubbo, Central West and NSW Country rugby. Mark was a Dubbo Rugby Club Director from 1972-1983, Central West President 1974-1979, and a Vice President of NSW Country 1980-1986. "Mr. Rugby" has been patron of several rugby clubs and has travelled far and wide in pursuit of his favourite pastime.
Damian Scroope arrived in Dubbo to work with long time kangaroo supporters M. J. Duffy and Son in 1987. Scroopey was heavily involved of the establishment of the Dubbo Rugby Club Inc. as we know it today. A tireless behind the scenes worker for Dubbo Rugby in the late 1980's and early 1990's. Damian also coached Colts and 1st grade for the club. After leaving Dubbo he returned to work in Sydney and maintained his love of all things rugby with the Northern Suburbs Club.
Mark Gallagher has been associated with the club since the early 70's. A fantastic Clubman who played until the mid 80's. Remembered by many for his "Train hard, play hard, be hard" attitude. One of the smallest backrowers in the competition. He figured prominently in Best and Fairest awards, and was a member of the '75 Premiers. Mark rarely misses a home game.
Bob Elliott initiated his passion for rugby at Stannies in Bathurst. He was also a member of the first Dubbo Under 18 side from 1970. After playing for Mitchell College as a flanker Bob further developed his love of rugby. Over the last decade he has been one of the driving forces behind the Dubbo Rugby Juniors. Bob has been president, secretary, team manager, premiership winning coach and publicity machine for the Juniors. His now all of the above for the Teds. Known by many in Dubbo Rugby circles as "The Guru".
Tony Webber was a member of the Dubbo Colts sides of the mid 80's. He was also a member of the 1st Grade premiership squad in 1987. He is reputed to be Dubbo Rugby Clubs funniest man. He is a media adviser/speech writer for former Kangaroo, and now Federal politician Tony Lawler. Webs is remembered for many things, but his efforts at the opening of the new clubhouse (April 1997) are the most vivid.
Doug Sadler played for the club from 1951 to 1953. At Dubbo High School he captained the winning Astley Cup First XV in 1941 and 1942. He joined the R. A. N. and in 1943 and 1944 he played for Australian Navy (capt) and Combined Services. When he attended the University of Sydney from 1947 to 1950, he was a regular member of the Sydney University First Grade side, Sydney Teachers' College First (capt) and Combined Mid-Week teams. A teacher at Dubbo High, he was captain of the Central West side at Country Week and other matches, and of the Dubbo club. He was Dubbo's sole member of the Western Districts side which played the New Zealand All Blacks (1951) at Parkes, and with John Whittle against the Fijians (1952) at Dubbo. Doug has coached teams in Canberra, Rockhampton and Dubbo. He was a founding member, with Dr Mike Alp and Clive Beckansall, of the Capricornia Institute Rugby Club, Rockhampton.
Andy Haycock came to Dubbo Rugby Club in 1989, from the successful St Alberts Club in the New England Zone. He developed his interest in rugby by going to Chatswood Oval with his grandmother and watching Gordon play in the mid 70's. Andy has played over 150 games for the club, captaining the 2nd grade side to back to back premierships in 1994 and 1995. He was also 1st grade assistant coach in the 1993 and 1996 seasons. In 1999 he is the "reserve" reserve halfback for the Dubbo Kangaroos Shield 2nd grade side.
