Kangaroos are marsupials but two of them have developed features of their northern hemisphere mammalian cousins!

Dubbo Kangaroos have worked their way into the Blowes Clothing Cup's top five, but whether they remain there will depend on how they handle a tricky month of football ahead.

The Roos were patchy in a 31-5 win over fierce rivals Narromine on Saturday, with the five-tries-to-one result not a true indication of the game.

"It's just a step to the left, and then a jump to the riiiyiiiyite...."

Dubbo Kangaroos captain Shaun McHugh said his side isn't worried about the Blowes Clothing Cup ladder leading into tomorrow's clash with the Mudgee Wombats.

But he'll be aware the sixth-placed Roos need a win after going down to Cowra by one point last week, a loss which saw them fall five points off fifth place.

After three consecutive wins the Dubbo Kangaroos' Blowes Clothing Cup premiership defence is right back on track.

Sitting in sixth and hunting a top five spot, the Roos face one of the toughest tasks in the competition tomorrow when they head to Cowra to take on the high-flying Eagles.

A conversion from James Mata two minutes from full-time gave the Dubbo Kangaroos a hard-fought 22-20 win over the Forbes Magpies at Grinstead Oval on Saturday.

The Roos made the trip to Forbes on the back of Blowes Clothing Cup wins over Parkes and CSU and Mata's kick, his only successful one of the day, sealed the scrappy victory.

The defending Blowes Clothing Cup premiers produced their best performance of the season last week to beat CSU 60-5 but the skipper expects a much bigger test against the Platypi at Grinstead Oval.

Dubbo Kangaroos Ladies Day hosted by Clare's Angels.

Dubbo's highly-touted forward pack came to the fore on Saturday as the defending Blowes Clothing Cup champions racked up 10 tries in a 60-5 demolition of CSU Bathurst at No.1 Oval.

The Roos' engine room supplied eight of those five-pointers, including three to skipper Shaun McHugh who racked up his hat-trick inside the opening 40 minutes.
