It is a case of gain a couple and lose a couple for the Dubbo Kangaroos as they prepare to take on Blowes Clothing Cup leaders Orange City on Saturday.

The arrivals of Filisione Pauta, Hena Tuatea and Anthony Golding in recent weeks have give the Roos a real boost in their quest to defend the title they won last season.

Dubbo coach Vince Gordon may have played down the return of Filisione Pauta but his return certainly hasn't gone unnoticed in Orange.

Every centre in the Blowes Clothing Cup was relieved when it was announced the former NSW Country Cockatoo wouldn't be playing in the Central West in 2015, after leading his side to premiership glory last year.

At this stage, Dubbo Kangaroo and former Orange City hooker Josh Tremain has dismissed his chances of a miracle comeback from injury, and a return to Pride Park in Saturday's round 11 Blowes Clothing Cup clash.

Tremain dislocated his shoulder playing for Central West at the NSW Country Championships in May, and although he avoided surgery he was facing the very realistic possibility of the injury ending his season.

Kangaroos are marsupials but two of them have developed features of their northern hemisphere mammalian cousins!

Dubbo Kangaroos have worked their way into the Blowes Clothing Cup's top five, but whether they remain there will depend on how they handle a tricky month of football ahead.

The Roos were patchy in a 31-5 win over fierce rivals Narromine on Saturday, with the five-tries-to-one result not a true indication of the game.

"It's just a step to the left, and then a jump to the riiiyiiiyite...."

The Dubbo Kangaroos handed the rest of the Blowes Clothing Cup a timely reminder of their quality on Saturday when they defeated the Mudgee Wombats 34-14.

The defending premiers scored six tries to two in the victory which sees them move just one point adrift of the Wombats in fifth.

They continue to be the surprise packet of the Blowes Clothing Cup season but co-coach Tom Flynn said the rest of the competition better get used to new and improved Mudgee Wombats.

Speaking ahead of their clash against the Dubbo Roos on Saturday, Flynn said the surge the side has enjoyed this season has stemmed largely from a culture change at the club.

Dubbo Kangaroos captain Shaun McHugh said his side isn't worried about the Blowes Clothing Cup ladder leading into tomorrow's clash with the Mudgee Wombats.

But he'll be aware the sixth-placed Roos need a win after going down to Cowra by one point last week, a loss which saw them fall five points off fifth place.

After three consecutive wins the Dubbo Kangaroos' Blowes Clothing Cup premiership defence is right back on track.

Sitting in sixth and hunting a top five spot, the Roos face one of the toughest tasks in the competition tomorrow when they head to Cowra to take on the high-flying Eagles.
